Welcome to Hat Night, Fellow Haberdashers,
Our special Stuff You Take For Granted Deconstruction Team has been following you around this week. They saw you check the weather forecast, and then whistle your happy little way through the coat closet, confident that the temperature and precipitation was going to be pretty much what they said.

So you go out there with bigger fish to fry than "Is it going to rain?" because you already know. Well, that’s all fine and good, and everyone trusts that you’re enjoying gobs of freed-up brain space now that you don’t have to wonder if it’ll rain.

And even with all that wide open range for intellectual grazing, you probably never think about the little people who live beyond radar and weather balloons and chirpy forecasters.

Yes, millions of fine folks who lead interesting lives actually have to look outside and maybe even sniff the day before they peruse the coat closet and commit.

and slightly daft fedora.
In fact, our Stuff You Take For Granted Deconstruction Team has determined that sketchy weather forecasts predict something far more wonderful than a reliable weather forecast: a more interesting life, built on fundamentals of jacket weight, breathability, hat brim depth, visor length, and generally heightened atmospheric sensibilities because so much is at stake, hour by turbulent unpredictable hour.

Fictionary Friday
: Words You Need. Whether you know it or not.
Solero (soh lehr oh) Noun: An intellectual eclipse.
In a sentence:  Pam Flett suffered an acute solero when she donned her Pillbox instead of her Bucket Hat during a torrential downpour.

Wikipedia Friday Favorite:
In honor of the intersection of curiosity and logarithmically expanding human knowledge, we offer a weekly favorite obscure Wikipedia page.

Fizzdom Friday: from our collection of favorite quotes.

– Walker Evans

Friday Fluff:
A number of readers from states bordering Arkansas and Indiana reached out this morning to ask, "When is Valentine’s Day?" In the interest of clueing in the clueless, staff quickly contacted our crackerjack underwriting department and put together a flowery Valentine’s Day Insurance Rider for anyone over the age of consent. It includes á la carte riders for flowers, balloons, chocolate, champagne, and barbershop quartets. Contact the office before sundown when rates triple.

Write if you (do) or (do not) need clueing.

Yours in the weather or not,
Jonathan
