Flossophy
Friday

Hello Fellow Trampolinists,

Welcome to a brand-new year and our brand-new "Flossophy Friday," a short weekly email of no practical value whatsoever, except for the sheer relief from the onslaught of practical value.

We invite your response. Please do send us a pearl of wisdom, a non sequitur, free advice, or a cold nugget of hard-won truth. Or anything else that fits in the intertubes.

Fictionary Friday: from the forthcoming book of new words.

Histeria (his-ter-ee-ah) noun: men in the traffic jam of life.
In a sentence:
"Government scholars at the University of Siberia explain that President Trump’s histeria caused overzealous exuberance at the recent Putinanny."

Fizzdom Friday: from our collection of favorite quotes.
"Creativity is intelligence having fun." ---Albert Einstein

Wikipedia Friday Favorite:

In honor of the intersection of curiosity and logarithmically expanding human knowledge, we offer a weekly favorite obscure Wikipedia page.

This week's selection lists hundreds of cognitive biases. One of our favorites: "Women are wonderful effect: A tendency to associate more positive attributes with women than with men."

Friday Fluff:
It's snowflake observation season. We notice that they fall out of the sky, and they travel a long way to get here. We appreciate their efforts. Each descends at its own rate of speed, before collecting in the pasture. The bumpy pasture transforms into a voluptuous, undulating smoothscape. Snow is silent water. Snow changes weight and texture over time. We have collected a hundred flakes and brought them to the lab for further observation and study. Reports to follow.

Reader Reply of the Week:
We will select the best of the best weekly reader replies.
(Get on it, people! Join the race to the bottom for next week! Send us your Fictionary, Fizzdom, Fluff or Wiki!)

Since this is our first installment, we have no reader replies to share. So this week we offer a gem from the only three star Amazon review for Everything is Happening at Once*, which we found quirkily amusing:
"Five stars really, but I skimmed the book. Not the author's fault. . . . Well-written because of how he narrates his thoughts along his journey. . . .  Just a great insightful read."

Ponder this Short Cut, the weekly blog on jonathanmarcus.org:
Think Tank Tennis--Part V
"What is Thinking for?" It's a good question, and one that doesn't get enough consideration because everyone's too busy thinking to stop and ask why the hell are we thinking all the time.

* In case nobody told you, Marcus+Myer Publishing has debuted with the publication of Everything Is Happening at Once, now available on Amazon. It’s a memoir. People are talking about it. All but one (see above) gave it a five star review.
All the best, see ya soon, write if you (do) or (do not) get work.
